FNV announces ‘biggest strike ever’ in academic hospitals

Employees of the academic hospitals in Amsterdam (VU and AMC), Leiden, Utrecht, Groningen, Rotterdam and Maastricht are participating in the strike. So-called Sunday services are run in many departments. This means that all planable care is canceled and only emergency care is available.

Fair working conditions

With the strike, hospital employees demand ‘fairer working conditions, such as a decent wage increase’ for all employees and good agreements to reduce the workload. “Never before have there been such large-scale strikes in the Netherlands by employees of academic hospitals”, according to FNV.
