Formula 1: Sebastian Vettel first time in service at Aston Martin

Vettel first time in service at Aston Martin

Start of work for Sebastian Vettel with the new team. On Tuesday he paid his first visit to Aston Martin at Silverstone.

D.he new era has begun: Ex-Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel (33) was officially at his new Aston Martin racing team for the first time. On Tuesday he was in the factory in Silverstone (GB). Among other things, he spent his first day at work in the simulator. A spokesman for the new Vettel team confirmed this to us.

Before the first virtual test drive, there was a meeting with team boss Otmar Szafnauer and the technical director Andy Green, followed by a seat test in the new, future green racer. This is important so that Vettel’s seat can be custom-made so that the four-time world champion sits comfortably and has a good view. The car does not yet exist, but the monocoque can already be adapted to the pilot.

In the simulator, the Hessian then got to know the Aston Martin of the digital racing world. He should have already developed his first driving experience. Experts expect the German to be able to handle the Aston Martin better again than with his last extremely bitchy Ferrari.

However, Sky expert Ralf Schumacher warns: “There are still some deficits in the team. You can’t turn a cow into a tiger overnight. You have to tame the tiger first. “

Schumacher, however, also admits: “I am glad that he has a team that stands behind him again.”

Ex-Formula 1 driver and DMSB President Hans-Joachim Stuck also reckons with the team of Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll with a Vettel back in top form. Stuck to ABMS: “I think he will feel more comfortable at Aston Martin. He is being courted more and there he can certainly achieve top performance again. “

The former DMSB President emphasizes: “Sebastian has certainly not forgotten how to drive. I thought it was cool when he got Leclerc to be his teammate who ironed him. I also know the feeling when a youngster shows you where to go. ”However, it is then important not to give up. With his third place in Turkey and the overtaking maneuver on Leclerc in the last chicane, Vettel has proven that he can fight. “The fact that Sebastian has motivated himself to beat him again is already strong,” says Stuck. “Compliment.”

At least verbally, the environment is already prepared. Because Vettel’s new team owner, Lawrence Stroll, has already spread roses to the German via the BBC: “Vettel is a four-time Formula 1 world champion. He certainly hasn’t forgotten how to drive a racing car. His work ethic is exemplary, everyone in the paddock knows how hard he is working. “
Team boss Szafnauer sees Vettel as a great trump card for the traditional brand: “With Sebastian we have a proven four-time world champion who has experience in helping teams win races and fight for championships. He has a winning mentality and we will undoubtedly all learn a lot from him on this trip. ”
