Sainz gets two-year contract

Carlos Sainz succeeds Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari. He will have a two-year contract until the end of 2022.

Ferrari has found a successor for Sebastian Vettel. As expected, Carlos Sainz will become Charles Leclerc’s new teammate in 2021. The contract runs until the end of 2022, Leclerc’s until the end of 2024.

Ferrari race director Mattia Binotto: “In his five years so far, Carlos has proven that he is very talented. He showed that he has the technical understanding and the right qualities to fit our family perfectly. ”

Carlos Sainz is looking forward to his new challenge: “I am really happy to drive for Ferrari in 2021 and I am very excited about the future with the team. But I still have an important year ahead of me with McLaren and I can’t wait to go another season with them. ”
Sainz has driven 102 World Cup races so far. At the Brazilian GP 2019 he was on the podium for the first time (albeit only afterwards).
