Comeback after Spa horror crash
Juan Manuel Correa will return to racing in 2021 and drive for ART in Formula 3 – almost two years after his horror crash.
Most of the injuries, including a small spinal fracture, were harmless. But Correa broke both legs in the horror crash. The lower right leg in particular was badly shattered. The American, who was born in Ecuador, had to endure more than 20 operations, and his right leg was clamped in a metal frame for 13 months.
Correa was operated on more than 20 times
Despite these massive physical injuries, whether the fatal outcome for Hubert or mental injuries, Correa had no doubt about wanting to get back into the racing car. That will now happen in 2021, when the 21-year-old will start in Formula 3.

Correa is essentially erasing the years 2019 and 2020 in his career. Already in 2017 and 2018 he was at the start for 25 races in the Swiss Jenzer racing team in the series called GP3 at the time, taking fourth place in Barcelona 2018. In 2019 he was promoted to Sauber Charouz in Formula 2 – with the aforementioned terrible outcome. Now he starts again one level lower.
“I am extremely happy to be able to return to the racing slopes. And I am very grateful to ART for this opportunity. It means a lot to me that they believe in me. My goal remains to get into Formula 1 one day, ”Correa announces the good news.
