After a break due to Corona, the Gamescom games fair is to take place again this year in Cologne. This step was originally planned for 2021, but had to be postponed due to a lack of planning security due to the global corona pandemic.
Games Fair takes place at the end of August
This year, exhibitors and visitors will once again be romping about in the exhibition halls in Cologne. As the organizer announced this week, Gamescom 2022 will take place from August 24th to 28th, 2022 as a hybrid event. The online gala with game trailers, moderated by Geoff Keighley, is set to return in 2022. It is planned for August 23 at 8 p.m.
Organizer is working on a hygiene concept
In order to keep the risk of infection in the exhibition halls as low as possible, Koelnmesse is planning particularly wide aisles in the halls as part of the hygiene concept. In addition, queues should be avoided as far as possible. However, it is not yet known how the organizer intends to do this. Specific details have not yet been announced. Advance ticket sales are scheduled to start in May 2022.
Gamescom 2022 is also particularly sustainable. All emissions are to be offset by Koelnmesse and the Game industry association. Exhibitors and visitors can make up for their climate-damaging journey with a voluntary contribution. This is then donated to various projects. These include a project to generate wind energy in Brazil.
