A luxury branch of the Kia-Hyundai group, Genesis will arrive in force in Europe from this summer with a first thermal offer. Electricity will follow from 2022.
Already well established in its native land, the Genesis brand will set out to conquer new markets, particularly in Europe where its launch is expected in the coming months.
To tickle the best premiums on the market, where Infiniti (owned by Nissan) has never really managed to stand out, Genesis will launch this summer the road G80 and its counterpart, the GV80. These two vehicles are particularly in the viewfinder the Mercedes Class E and Mercedes GLE.
Three electric models to come
This first thermal step will however be quickly followed by a second electric wave. From the summer of 2022, Genesis announces the arrival in Europe of the electric version of the G80, recently presented at the Shanghai Motor Show. Based on the Korean group’s e-GMP platform, the model has two electric motors. The whole has 370 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque. The battery capacity is not known, but the manufacturer promises a range of 500 km (NEDC). At 800 volts, recharging from 10 to 80% would take only 22 minutes.
Two other high-end electric cars will emerge over the following months. If an electric version of the GV80 is inevitable, a new model is also expected.
