German air traffic slumped in April

Big four-month minus on the tap.

Due to the corona restrictions, almost no air traffic was possible in April – this is now also shown by the new monthly figures of the German airport association ADV. Accordingly, the passenger volume in the fourth month of the year fell by 98.6 percent compared to the same month last year. Although cargo flights were still in decimal numbers, cargo traffic also fell by 14.7 percent. In total, this means a minus of 88.4 percent for flight movements to just under 21,000 take-offs and landings.

The majority of the flights in April represent the federal government’s return program. The influence of these monthly values on the annual figures can already be guessed at. Over the first third of the year, German airports counted 47 percent fewer passengers – namely 37.85 million. The four-month minus on the rooster is largest (-62.2 percent).
