The ADAC was not involved in the GHG premium business from the beginning of 2022. The club did not enter the modern sale of indulgences until the end of April. But despite everything, the demand for the premium among the members of the largest automobile club in Europe is high.
Over 28,000 applications from members have now been received; around 24,000 were passed on to the responsible Federal Environment Agency, which decides on the applications. Around 13 percent of the electric cars registered privately so far in 2022 are registered with the ADAC.

The Federal Environment Agency seems to have underestimated the run on GHG
However, like the other service providers, the ADAC has suffered from the fact that the Federal Environment Agency probably underestimated the run on the GHG premium. The waiting times for payment of the bonus are significantly longer than expected.
Almost 40 percent of the applications for GHG payments to the ADAC were submitted by non-members. With the application, ADAC members receive an additional benefit of 20 euros or a 20-euro voucher for the ADAC e-Charge charging program.

Applying for the GHG premium is very easy
Applying for the GHG premium is just as easy with the ADAC as with the numerous other service providers. After registering with the personal data, the vehicle registration document for the electric car must be uploaded. The Federal Environment Agency requires this. The traffic club based in Munich bundles the registered vehicle registration documents and submits them continuously.
In general, the ADAC is registering ever-increasing demand for services related to electromobility. The in-house e-Charge card alone has now been ordered more than 200,000 times; monthly charging activity has more than doubled since early 2021.
