Amazon is working on a series around Lisbeth Salander, one of the main characters in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy. However, according to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, the story from the series is not from the book or its adaptations.
The first part of the Swedish writer’s trilogy appeared a year after his death in late 2004. The books, Men Who Hate Women (2005), The Woman Who Played with Fire (2006) and Justice (2007), were a great success and were soon made into movies in Sweden. Hollywood film followed in 2011 The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, with Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Salander, a hacker.
Although the collaboration between Blomkvist and Salander was central in the books and earlier films, the new series is all about the latter. It would operate in a new environment in today’s world. Rooney Mara is not involved in the project and Noomi Rapace, who played Salander in the Swedish film adaptations, is not known to participate in the series.
