This year’s Google developer conference starts on May 11th and will be available entirely online.

Google has announced the date for its annual Google I/O developer conference

. In 2022 the event will take place on May 11th and 12th. As in the previous year, the event will be broadcast live on the Internet.

Google I/O 2022 will again be an online event

While Google confirms there will be a live audience at the on-site Shoreline Amphitheater, this is said to be made up of Google employees and some partners. This was confirmed by Axios’ Ina Fried to IT magazine The Verge. The Google I/O will be a purely online event again this year. Registration is scheduled to start later this month. There will be no tickets. According to Google, anyone who wants to take part in the conference virtually can do so.

Android 13 as the main topic

The Google I/O was canceled in 2020 due to the global corona pandemic. The following year, the event returned as an online-only event. 2021’s big announcements included updates to Google Workspace, the merging of Tizen and Google’s Wear OS, and the Material You designs of Android 12. This year, Android 13 could be one of the focal points of the event.
