Google Pixel Watch: This is how much the smartwatch should cost

New rumors have surfaced about the potential price of Google’s Pixel smartwatch. Read this article for more details.

Google’s Pixel Watch is rumored to be released alongside the new Pixel 7 smartphone this fall. But what should the watch cost? 9to5Google has new insider information in its luggage.

Known so far:

The Pixel Watch gets a circular, domed design, is approximately 40mm wide and 14mm thick. Google has not yet revealed any details about the resolution of the display. For advanced control, there is a twist-and-push crown at the 3 o’clock position. The Pixel Watch is rumored to be powered by Samsung’s older Exynos 9110 chip with a coprocessor, along with 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Other alleged specifications: 300 mAh battery with magnetic charger, integrated GPS, water resistance to 50 meters, NFC and a range of health sensors. The OS used is Google’s Wear OS 3 with “Smart Unlock” for Android and a Pixel Watch companion app.

The Pixel Watch will be available in three colors (silver, black and gold) and Google is apparently working on an extensive collection of 20mm bands.

Priced between Samsung & Apple

As 9to5Google claims to have learned at I/O 2022 in May, the Pixel Watch will be available in a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model and an LTE variant. According to inside sources, the Pixel Watch will cost $399 with a cellular plan in the US. Of course, plans are subject to change ahead of launch, and carrier deals will no doubt bring the price down.

That’s the same price as the cheapest Apple Watch Series 7 with Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, while the comparable Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is $279 and the Watch 5 Pro is $449. Upgrading to cellular models costs $499, $329, and $449, respectively.

In terms of price, the Pixel Watch would be between the entry-level products from Samsung and Apple, while Fitbit would represent Google’s cheaper smartwatch series. Compared to the Galaxy Watch, Google mainly uses recycled stainless steel for the case, in addition to sapphire glass, for which Apple already charges a surcharge ($699). However, the Pixel Watch will not use a high-quality cover glass.

Pixel Watch launch date

If the rumors are true and everything goes according to plan, Google wants to launch two big products side by side this fall. As 9to5Google has learned, Google wants to launch the Pixel Watch alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.
