Haas team boss: “Don’t know what Mick has achieved”

The Formula 1 stars should actually recover during the summer break. But Mick Schumacher (23) is worried about the future. His team Haas has postponed negotiations on a new contract for the time being. Team boss Günther Steiner first wants to get an idea of how Michael Schumacher’s son develops under pressure.

In the worst case, Schumi Junior faces a year without Formula 1. That shouldn’t happen, warns German motorsport legend Hans-Joachim Stuck. “He has to stick with it, show himself and set an example, as he has already done this year,” says Stuck at Eurosport and warns: “But not driving in Formula 1 for a year would be fatal.”
For the former Formula 1 and DTM driver it would be incomprehensible anyway if Schumacher should not find a cockpit. Stuck: “He has proven his skills this season. … (I)m I wouldn’t understand if Haas organized a circus there. Because they won’t get anyone better.”

The pressure on Mick Schumacher remains high.

Stuck is particularly impressed by the two points at Silverstone and Spielberg. “Mick is showing impeccable performances, the people in charge see that,” emphasizes the former DMSB President. “He also has a great name. A team looking for a young driver can do nothing better than sign a Mick Schumacher.”

Does Haas team boss Günther Steiner see it that way?

One thing is certain: the disputes after Schumacher’s accident in Monaco have left their mark. The South Tyrolean accused the media and Schumacher’s uncle Ralf Schumacher of wanting to split the team. Previously, he had severely criticized his pilot for driving errors. Emotions ran high.

Steiner was also tough recently: “I honestly don’t know what Mick has achieved so far and we haven’t talked to Mick about a place for next year yet,” said the Haas boss at RacingNews365. “We want to see what happens.”
