Hobby has tried to give the Optima a modern look

In terms of dimensions and design, the family-friendly A70 GFM is clearly programmed for a leisurely pace.

The storage options are almost unlimited

He has: Lots of air, lots of space, high storage reserves. The neat external dimensions ensure a great sense of space. This fits in with that too fold-up alcove bed, which also enables smooth, bump-free passage to the driver’s cab. All very nice and very practical. The latter also applies to the almost unlimited storage options. First there is the spacious garage, which is slightly indented on the driver’s side because of the gas bottle box (ex works with practical pull-out) and the linen compartment in the middle of the bed.

The enormous headroom creates an airy feeling of space in the Optima.

There is a large wardrobe, the aforementioned linen compartment and storage space under the seating. Also the Corner kitchen with three-burner stove, counter and large fridge with double stop opposite is no exception. Lots of supplies can be safely stowed away in upper and lower cabinets. Everything the way families want it.

The sticking point is the payload: Because our test car is lavishly equipped, stay meager 337 kilograms payload. Even the increased load (+ 150 kilograms) is only small consolation. In addition, they showed up after just a few days of camping use first processing weaknesses, such as a jammed storage box lock, a curtain rail that came loose and a torn band on the blackout/fly screen of a roof hatch.

The brakes show clear fading

This is how he drives: Cozy and safe. The one installed in the test car 140 hp diesel is enough, but the intermediate sprints from 60 and 80 km/h also indicate that you better not choose a smaller motor. In the slalom course the body leans noticeably, but not dangerously.

Sit in and get along: The tried and tested Jumper Cockpit does not pose any riddles. Climate is series.

The ESP intervenes safely, so you don’t have to shy away from an evasive manoeuvre. However the brakes showed clear fading after the seventh of ten stops from 100 km/h. The Hobby isn’t the first Citroën-based vehicle we’ve noticed.
