You can set up the screen lock in the Android Settings app. Look for an option like “lock screen”. As a rule, the standard procedures pattern, PIN number and password are available for selection in the options. On smartphones with appropriate biometric sensors, you can also use a fingerprint, your face or the iris of your eye as a screen lock.
A PIN code is relatively easy to remember and quick to enter. It consists of at least four, better six or eight numbers that you have to type in and repeat to confirm.
You can simply keep it, enter it conveniently and reliably unlock your smartphone with a password. It should be at least six characters long. It is important that friends and colleagues cannot guess the chosen password either.
For a pattern, wipe an imaginary path with your finger on a 3 x 3 dot field, then lift your finger off. It’s comfortable, but not really safe. People around you can often see from a distance which pattern you are wiping. In addition, many users opt for geometric patterns that are easy to guess.
You can unlock newer cell phones by looking at the display. First set up the screen lock using a PIN (step 2) or password (step 3). You can then register your face by moving it in front of the camera.
Having a fingerprint sensor on your phone will save you a ton of time when unlocking the device. It is located on the back of most devices. It therefore takes some getting used to before you hit the sensor with your finger straight away.
No matter which option you choose, the lock screen can always be unlocked. This is automatically activated when a screen time-out is set. Locking also works manually when you press the side switch on the phone. Only after successfully unlocking you will have access to the Android system again.
