It’s not that easy to capture the automotive spirit of the times. When it came to electrification, Hyundai relied on the Ioniq from 2016: the aerodynamically shaped four and a half meter hatchback was available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric version. And galloping fuel prices have meanwhile made affordable fuel-saving and electrical technology an important selling point for used vehicles.

Under the hood of the hybrid variant we tested is a 1.6-liter petrol engine that works harmoniously with an electric motor including a 1.56 kWh lithium-polymer battery. 141 hp system performance and powerful 265 Newton meters are in it. In practice, consumption is just over five liters of Super.
Hyundai Ioniq used: The space is okay
The Korean hybrid sedan cost 27,750 euros new in the upscale style equipment. The space is okay both on the somewhat short front seats and on the back seat. The large tailgate is practical for families. It doesn’t turn the hatchback into a station wagon, but it makes loading bulky goods much easier.
Cockpit without spaceship flair. The hybrid technology is visible in the digital instrument cluster.
Also on board are seat and steering wheel heating and an eight-inch infotainment system including navigation system, DAB radio, reversing camera and free updates. Smartphones can be charged wirelessly via the integrated Qi charging cradle. What is missing? With the assistants, he had Ioniq little to offer except for front radar and reversing camera.
The four-year-old model is available from dealers for 19,950 euros
Nevertheless, after four years and a moderate 35,058 kilometers, which is typical for the model, 19,950 euros are still due at B&E in Glinde, Schleswig-Holstein. Alternatively, there is also the equally powerful plug-in hybrid with an 8.9 kWh battery, which ideally roams around 60 kilometers through the country. The fully electric version delivers 120 hp and had a small 28.8 kWh battery until the facelift in autumn 2019. A 38.8 kWh power storage unit was then installed.

Both Ioniq-Models with a plug are traded around 3000 euros more expensive when used, with all three being suitable as all-rounders. Due to the soft vote, the glides Ioniq quite comfortable. Our test car hardly shows any signs of its past: chassis, steering and seats still make an absolutely fresh impression. 2011 ex-VW boss Winterkorn praised the Hyundai-Quality. And still nothing rattles! He wants it to stay that way Ioniq annually or at least every 15,000 kilometers for inspection.
