Intel Arc A770 on average 14 percent ahead of Geforce RTX 3060

The Intel Arc A770 graphics card is said to outperform Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3060, even with ray tracing enabled.

Manufacturer Intel wants to compete with Nvidia’s Geforce and AMD’s Radeon series with its Arc graphics cards. Now the manufacturer has finally announced meaningful benchmarks for its flagship Intel Arc A770. As expected, even the top model cannot keep up with the high-end graphics cards of the competition. With the Geforce RTX 3060 from Nvidia, however, Intel has set its own benchmark.

Faster than an RTX 3060

Accordingly, Intel also uses the Nvidia entry-level card for 350 to 400 euros as a comparison for the Arc A770 benchmarks. The manufacturer’s test runs show that the Arc A770 graphics card works 14 percent faster on average than an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060. Compared to the smaller Arc A750 model, the Arc A770 is said to offer 10 percent more performance in games.

Top in 11 of 17 games

Intel used 17 popular games for the test runs. In 11 games, the Intel graphics card beat Nvidia’s RTX 3060. According to Intel, the benchmarks were carried out in 1080p resolution with activated ray tracing. The first-person shooter “Metro Exodus” had a 33 percent lead, the professional killer simulation “Hitman 3” had a lead of 26 percent and in the popular “Fortnite” the Arc A770 of the RTX 3060 even pulled ahead by 57 percent.

XeSS provides a performance boost

In addition, Intel has also published values with activated XeSS (an alternative to the upscaling technology from Nvidia and AMD). It shows that XeSS Balanced can provide an FPS increase of 76 percent, while XeSS Performance sometimes leads to a doubling of the frame rate.

price question?

The Intel Arc A770 graphics card has 32 Xe cores, 4,096 ALUs and 32 ray tracing units. The GPU operates at a clock rate of up to 2.4 GHz and has 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory. The graphics card is expected to go on sale later this month. The price is expected to be between $349 and $399.
