From May 3, 2022, there will be fast gigabit internet via the cable network at O2. To this end, Telefónica in Germany is working together with the network operators Vodafone and Tele Columbus. You can buy the required cable router yourself or rent the Fritzbox 6660 for EUR 4.99 per month. The router supports the DOCSIS 3.1 transmission standard for high-speed cable Internet and Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN AX). This means that theoretical data rates in the WLAN of up to 2,400 MBit/s in the 5 GHz band and up to 600 MBit/s in the 2.4 GHz band are possible. There are also well-known features such as support for WLAN mesh and a DECT base for smart home applications and cordless phones. Analog telephones or fax machines can also be used thanks to the integrated telephone system on the new Fritzbox. In addition to the 2.5 Gigabit LAN port, there are four Gigabit LAN ports.
