iPhone 11 now best-selling smartphone in the world

In the first quarter of this year, 19.5 million copies of the iPhone 11 were shipped, says market researcher Omdia. In the first quarter of 2019, the iPhone XR was in first place, then with 13.6 million shipped.

The iPhones outperform the competition. Second in the rankings of the first quarter of this year is the Samsung Galaxy A51 with 6.8 million units shipped, followed by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 with 6.6 million units shipped.

iPhone more popular than last year

The iPhone XR, 11 Pro Max and 11 Pro are in fifth, sixth and eighth places in the top ten respectively. IPhones are doing much better than last year, when the iPhone XS and XS Max did not make the top ten. Samsung is also doing well, with four models in the top ten, just like Apple.

As for expensive Samsung models, however, only the Galaxy S20 + 5G ranks in the top ten, with 3.5 million shipped in second. The Galaxy S20 devices did not come to the market until early March. Sales figures for the current quarter are expected to be higher.
