No more guesswork: the former Fola coach will indeed be at the Holleschbierg next season. The man with 98 selections takes the reins of a training promoted to sharp teeth.

(JFC) – Tuesday evening marked the end of the suspense. Jeff Strasser (45) will be the new coach of Swift Hesperange after two seasons at Fola Esch, where he had already officiated from 2010 to 2017. He signed a three-year contract at Holleschbierg. Between September 2017 and February 2018, the “Grand” had trained Kaiserslautern in the 2nd Bundesliga before having to give way to Michael Frontzeck for health reasons.

At the head of Fola, Strasser won two Luxembourg champion titles in 2013 and 2015. He finished the 2019-2020 season at the top of the hierarchy, before seeing the competition interrupted by the coronavirus crisis. The FLF decided in the process not to award the title of champion 2020.

In search of a coach since the announcement of the departure of Jeff Strasser in Hesperange, the Fola Esch has set his sights on the former coach of Youth and Virton.

The former professional (Metz, Kaiserslautern, Mönchengladbach, Strasbourg, Grasshopper) will find himself at the head of a solid and high-quality workforce made up of many seasoned players at the BGL Ligue. In recent weeks, the Swift has indeed announced the signatures of Luxembourg internationals and former internationals Jonathan Joubert, Tom Schnell (both from F91 Dudelange), Kevin Malget and David Turpel (both from Virton). In addition, striker Emmanuel Françoise disembarks from Progrès Niederkorn.

“The objective is the top three”, declares besides Fernand Laroche, the club president promoted this year among the elite. “The ideal ingredients for success are there,” said the new coach. “I will have access to good players and good coaching.” The composition of its staff will soon be announced. In Hesperange, Strasser replaces another former international, Dan Theis (in office since 2018) who is still under contract with Swift and whose future is not yet clear.
