Joachim Löw retires after the European Championship after fifteen years as national coach of Germany | Football

Löw became assistant to Jürgen Klinsmann after the failed European Championship in 2004 and took over the position of national coach after the World Cup from Klinsmann in his own country two years later. With the Germans, Löw became world champion in Brazil in 2014.

“I am proud because it is very special and a great honor for me to be involved with the best football players in the country,” Löw said in a statement on the website of the German Football Association. “I have had wonderful triumphs with them and had to take painful defeats with them. The World Cup won in Brazil was a magical moment. I am forever grateful to the German federation for offering me this opportunity. ”

Löw will do everything he can to say goodbye to the German national team in the best possible way, because the last major final tournament ended in a deception. Germany did not make it through the group stage as reigning world champion during the World Cup four years later in Russia.
