Optics: EV9 with indicated “tiger nose” grill

The EV6’s big brother will be a full-size SUV that is almost five meters long. The EV9 Concept counts on beefy and angular design. The wheelhouses are exposed wide, the front is steep. In contrast to the EV6, Kia has included the brand-typical “tigernose” grill in the design, even if the electric car does not have a conventional grill, of course. On the closed front, painted in body color, this element is stylized by decorative strips, beads and edges. The headlights in the study have an unusual design: a vertical light strip and many small light elements imitate the shape. For the production model, however, we expect a more conventional variant.

Corners and edges are the big issue with the EV9. The D-pillar is largely a triangle – this geometry can also be found in the 22-inch rims.

The taillights, on the other hand, could – in a slightly different form – go into series production. They reach far up and down along the rear window and the trunk lid. The rear is completed by a solid, silver-colored underride guard. Almost typical for a study, the EV9 Cameras instead of exterior mirrorsthat are protected by a square cover. the Roof rails can be extended, that lowers the air resistance when you don’t need it.

Interior: 27-inch widescreen combines speedometer and central display

As is so often the case with current show cars, the interior is lounge-like, reduced and bright. In addition, Kia is committed to sustainability when it comes to materials: the covers of the wide seats are made from recycled plastic bottles and wool fibers, the carpet is made from recycled fishing nets. Instead of leather, there is artificial leather. The huge screen landscape is particularly exciting: a 27-inch Wi-Fi screen combines a central display and a digital speedometer. There are no buttons, instead there are a handful of touch surfaces on the dashboard and on the spacey steering wheel. In order to underline the lounge character, there is a show car different interior modes, in which the seats are rotated and folded. There are three rows of seats, so the EV9 will likely be a seven-seater. In “pause mode” a kind of seating group is created: the two front seats are turned over, the second row serves as a table. In “Enjoy Mode” you can – sitting in the upturned row of seats – look out of the open tailgate.

Range and market launch: electric Kia should create 483 kilometers

The EV9 will be based on the E-GMP platform including 800-volt technology, on which the EV6 and Ioniq 5 are also based. The maximum range is Kia with 483 kilometers, thanks to the fast charging technology should Battery from ten to 80 percent in 20 to 30 minutes be charged. A solar module below the windshield should also provide some additional energy. There are no specific details about the performance yet, but the platform should up to 600 PS Maximum output enable. It should be some time before the Tesla Model X competitor launches. It is not yet certain when the new flagship of the EV series will go into series production. What is certain, however, is that the EV9 is a Sister model of the Ioniq 7 will be – and that is announced for 2024.
