Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: the dark one

Since 2021, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has only been available with a plug-in hybrid drive. That SUV uses the technology of the Outlander and relies on two electric motors (front and rear) and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Together, the drives result in a system output of 188 hp. Thanks to the 13.8 kWh battery, the Japanese should be able to travel up to 61 km fully electrically.
Incidentally, the word “eclipse” comes from English and means “darkness”; an attribute that fortunately does not do justice to the Mitsubishi.
Carwow lists the Eclipse Cross with a delivery time of one to three months. So if you want to use a plug-in hybrid in the short term, you should take a look at the Mitsubishi. The base price is 40,590 euros.

Mazda CX-60: the newcomer

With the CX-60, Mazda joins other premium SUVs from Mercedes, Audi, BMW and Co. The SUV is also the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model! And there is actually another milestone: With a system output of 241 kW (327 hp) and 500 Nm of torque, the Mazda CX-60 is the most powerful production model from the Japanese to date.
Mazda CX-60 e-Skyactiv PHEV 2.5 AWD

With the CX-60, Mazda wants to challenge other premium SUVs.

With the SUV, Mazda is breaking new ground on several levels. At 47,390 euros, the base price will be well below the competition. For comparison: The Mercedes GLC as a PHEV costs 56,109 euros in the basic version.
According to Carwow, the current delivery time is four to six months. Like Jeep, Mazda guarantees the full premium if you order by September 30, 2022 – even if the CX-60 is not delivered until 2023.

Jeep Wrangler: the outdoorsman

The Jeep Wrangler was launched as a PHEV after Renegade and Compass. None of the three models are still available in the latest generation as classic combustion engines. Unlike the Renegade and Compass – which are also available as e-hybrids – the Wrangler is only available as a plug-in hybrid.
The base price is currently 77,500 euros. According to Carwow, people are currently waiting five to six months for the Jeep Wrangler. Accordingly, the Wrangler would be too late to receive the bonus. If it weren’t for the manufacturer’s special arrangement: Jeep guarantees the premium in full if you order by September 30, 2022.

The Wrangler still drives with real four-wheel drive: Jeep has not changed the drive train compared to the combustion model.

The drive train remained untouched in the Wrangler, so that thanks to all-wheel drive the Jeep continues to master difficult terrain without any problems. The Wrangler is said to have an electric range of 79 kilometers and has an output of up to 279 kW (380 hp). However, the Wrangler is not the perfect choice for brisk rides through the narrow streets.

Although it has more than enough power, the increased weight (due to the battery) is also noticeable in the heavily damped steering. The jeep simply feels most at home in its natural territory, between stones and mud.

Jeep Renegade: the reliable one

The Jeep Renegade Plug-in Hybrid is the only new-generation Renegade model still available with all-wheel drive. The combustion brothers are only on the road with front-wheel drive. Jeep guarantees that customers who order by September 30, 2022 will receive the full reward – even if the vehicle is not delivered until 2023. According to Carwow, the Renegade is currently subject to a delivery time of six to seven months.
Jeep Renegade 4xe PHEV

The Jeep Renegade is only available as a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive.

The off-road vehicle is available in four versions. In the base as “Limited”, then follows the “Upland”, then the “Trailhawk”, and finally the top model is the Renegade S. With the base model, you still have the choice between more or less power – you can choose between 190 or 240 hp. The three other versions only have the large motor.

60 hp The electric motor delivers the remaining 180 hp from the combustion engine. According to the manufacturer, the Renegade plug-in hybrid should cover up to 50 kilometers purely electrically. In the simplest version, the Jeep costs 38,900 euros, the top model at least 45,600 euros.

Jeep Compass: the comfortable one

The Jeep Compass is the bigger brother of the Renegade and, like it, only has all-wheel drive as a PHEV. All other Compass models are front-wheel drive. The delivery time is also the same as that of the Renegade – according to Carwow, it is currently six to seven months! But here, too, the special regulation applies that the manufacturer guarantees the full premium if the Compass is ordered by the end of September 2022.
Like the Renegade, the Jeep Compass comes in four trim levels: “Limited”, “Upland”, “Trailhawk” and Renegade S. If you want a little less power, you have to go for the base model with 190 hp To fall back on. All others offer a system performance of 240 hp.

With the smaller engine, the purchase is of course also a bit cheaper, the price starts at 44,100 euros. The top model Compass S costs at least 51,100 euros. Its purely electric range is said to be 50 kilometers.
