Around 150 employees are affected.
After the Stuttgart base, the second Lauda location in Germany is now also being closed. In a letter – available to AviationNetOnline – the two managing directors Andreas Gruber and David O’Brien informed the workforce about this step. Ryanair announced that “it will discontinue its offer from Düsseldorf at the end of the summer flight schedule”. One blames, among other things, the airport, which would not have lowered the fees and the handling company Acciona, which, according to the letter, would have demanded a 30 percent increase in fees.
Around 150 employees are affected by the closure – they were offered the chance to contact Crewlink and apply for another airline or another location from the Ryanair empire. The Irish personnel leasing company provides crews for Ryanair DAC, Ryanair UK, Buzz, Lauda and Malta Air.
Since the summer, Lauda has only been operating in Germany as a “Production Company” for Ryanair under their flight number. The Düsseldorf location will now be closed on October 24, 2020, in Stuttgart it will be closed on September 30, 2020.
