Leading role for ‘All Star’ Doncic in NBA resumption

Slovenian basketball player Luka Doncic has again played the lead role with Dallas Mavericks after his second appearance in the annual All Star game. The 22-year-old Doncic gave his team the win over San Antonio Spurs at the resumption of the NBA after a week-long break: 115-104. The Slovenian signed with 22 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds for a so-called triple-double.

Doncic was part of the team of captain LeBron James on Sunday at the All Star Game in Atlanta, which won the annual game between the stars from the NBA 170-150 against Kevin Durant’s team. Doncic had to make do with a supporting role; he scored 8 points and gave 8 assists.

Back at the Mavericks, the Slovenian was the star as usual. He gave his team the nineteenth victory of the season. With the Spurs, who remained at eighteen victories, LaMarcus Aldridge was missing from the selection. The 35-year-old American is about to leave. “This is a win-win situation for both LaMarcus and the club,” said coach Gregg Poppovich. Aldridge, who has been playing for the team since 2015 and is a seven-time All Star, is in the last year of his contract worth $ 24 million (more than 20 million euros).
