Rumors about Google’s Pixel Watch have been circulating for years. In the past few weeks and months, however, speculation has intensified and suggests that Google could announce the smartwatch at Google I/O next month. Interested parties can catch a glimpse of the smart watch this week. The leaker Evan Blass has published an alleged render image of the Pixel Watch.
Design is reminiscent of LG Watch Style
The leaked image shows the smartwatch’s circular display along with a physical crown. Unfortunately, the rendering does not show the case of the watch. Instead, the Fitbit integration can be seen. The design is strongly reminiscent of the LG Watch Style, which was designed together with Google in 2017. The smartwatch was then released to present Android Wear 2.0.
Apple has overtaken Google
It remains to be seen whether Google will actually present the Pixel Watch at Google I/O. The company has invested heavily in the wearables space in recent years. Among other things, Google bought Fitbit and parts of Fossil. Regular updates added new features to Android Wear. However, Google’s hesitant strategy was not able to keep up with its competitor Apple.
