Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” was painted during his stay in the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum. This is where the artist had checked himself in after having mutilated his left ear months earlier. The painting shows the view from his room on the second floor just before sunrise. Van Gogh expands the view to include a village that didn’t really exist.

Development with the MoMA

The Lego set was developed in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where the painting is currently located. The “Starry Night” from Lego consists of 2,316 parts and measures 28 x 38 centimeters. The relief is also twelve centimeters deep and gives the painting a 3D effect. The set also includes a Van Gogh figurine with a mini version of the painting. The set is available from June 1, 2022 and costs 169.99 euros.
