LG announced that there is a new app for Facebook Watch starting today for the company’s smart TVs. This will make the streaming offer on televisions even wider.
You can now download Facebook Watch as an app on LG TVs, provided Facebook Watch is available in the relevant country. The app is available much more widely than you are normally used to. Not only are more current LCDs and OLEDs supplied, but the app for Smart TVs is distributed from model year 2014 onwards. However, the prerequisite is that webOS is the operating system.
Via Facebook Watch you can watch video content from the social network directly on the television. You can get the app for Facebook Watch now on the TVs in question from the LG Content Store. There is no need to update the firmware and the app is not automatically pre-installed.
You can use Facebook Watch to view videos of pages or topics you are following. You will also receive recommendations in the app based on the activities of your Facebook friends. You can also find content from favorite artists and news as well as sports highlights plus some original shows. For example, the Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith should be mentioned as a Facebook original.
Facebook Watch – now in the LG Content Store
According to the social network, Facebook Watch also includes music videos from well-known bands, up-and-coming musicians or all-time classics. As you can see from the screenshot above, the interface is a bit similar to YouTube. You can of course decide for yourself whether such content is better off on the smartphone, or whether it is perhaps worth looking at the large TV in the living room.
