Windows 10 offers the option of compressing the system drive. This usually saves a few GB of storage space.
This procedure is recommended on PCs with a current CPU. Because the compressed files have to be unpacked each time before they can be used. A fast CPU does this quickly enough so that no performance losses are noticeable.

Start the command prompt with administrator rights. To do this, click on the Windows symbol, type in cmd and select “Run as administrator”. Then check whether the compression is already active by entering compact / compactos: query. A test is useful, because Windows provides for compression when installing very small system hard drives. If the data has not yet evaporated, activate the compression with this command: compact / compactos: always The following command undoes the compression: compact / compactos: never. It is advisable to back up data before starting compression.
