Again, security researchers, this time from Dr. Web Antivirus Team , Malware-infested Android apps detected on Google Play. This is reported by the IT news site Bleepingcomputer, which specializes in security issues.
That’s what the malware does
The apps infected with adware or malware were installed almost ten million times on Android devices. The Android apps disguised themselves as image editors, virtual keyboards, system optimizers, screen background tools, etc. However, the source code of said apps always contains a function to display aggressive advertising on the smartphone and, above all, to encourage cell phone owners to take out expensive “premium services”. to coerce. Also, routines for stealing social media accounts are built into the apps.
During installation, the apps request the right to overlay their display over that of other apps. In addition, the apps always run in the background even if the user closes the apps.
Some of the infected apps had mostly negative reviews on Google Play. But that obviously didn’t stop many users from installing it. Google is said to have already removed the bulk of these apps from Google Play. However, according to Bleepingcomputer, three of the infected apps were recently offered for download on Google Play.

How to protect yourself
