The federal government wants to introduce a supplementary mask requirement and a curfew in the catering trade if the number of new infections exceeds 35 per 100,000 inhabitants in a region within a week.

This mask requirement is to be introduced where people come together closer or longer, according to a draft submitted to the German Press Agency for the draft resolution of the deliberations of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) with the heads of government of the states on Wednesday afternoon.

The number of participants at family celebrations should be limited

The federal government also advocates limiting the number of participants at private celebrations and public events at the latest when there are 35 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a region within a week.

When the curfew should begin and how many participants should be allowed to celebrate with family and friends is left open in the draft submitted to the German Press Agency for the consultations between Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the heads of government of the states on Wednesday afternoon.

Further corona aid for the economy

The federal government also wants to improve the aid measures for sectors particularly affected by the corona pandemic. The restrictions planned in view of the increasing number of infections would mean that some economic sectors would have to accept considerable restrictions in their business operations in the coming months.

Therefore, the federal government will “extend aid measures for companies and improve the conditions for the main economic sectors affected,” it says.
