Matthias Schoenaerts is not only popular in our country. For example, he already shone in The Danish Girl, The Old Guard and The Laundromat. And now he’s got the lead in a new series that will be based on the Italian western classic Django.
Matthias Schoenaerts will soon take the role of Django in the series of the same name, which will be produced by the American Sky and Canal +. The series is, just like the movie Django Unchained by Quentin Tarantino, based on the cult film by Sergio Corbucci from 1966, which means we already know a bit about what to expect from it.
Django is set in the Wild West in the 1860s and 1870s. Django’s family was massacred eight years ago and since then Django has been looking for his daughter because he believes she may have survived the massacre. Indeed, Django finds his daughter back in New Babylon, where she is about to marry John. Sarah doesn’t want her father to stay in New Babylon, but he doesn’t want to lose his daughter a second time.
The series with Matthias Schoenaerts in the lead role will be directed by Francesca Comencini, who was previously responsible for Gomorrah. Also the writers of Gomorrah, Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, are on board for this project. In total, the series will consist of 10 episodes.
