McDonald’s will be handing out Pokémon cards with the Happy Meal starting next week

Toys in the junior bag, please excuse me: in the Happy Meal, it makes the difference. You could say that. Maybe not necessarily for the kids who usually buy the happy meal. But for one or the other of us in our mid-twenties. Excuse me, in my mid-thirties.

With Pokémon characters in the Happy Meal, you are more likely to be tempted to visit McDonald’s. Or with Nintendo characters to Burger King. The next prank awaits you on March 11th. Then there will be four special Pokémon cards in each Happy Meal exclusively in the Happy Meal on the occasion of Pokémon’s 25th birthday. As if the hype surrounding the trading card game wasn’t already big enough!

The action had already taken place in the USA and caused quite a stir. Since the same promotional material is used in this country, it can currently be assumed that the same cards will also be available. Then Pokémon fans would be able to collect a total of 50 cards with the Happy Meal.

It contains 24 cards from starters of each Pokémon generation and one card for Pikachu with a “25 years of Pikachu” symbol. These 25 cards are available in a holo version and a normal version. Three normal and one holo cards can be drawn per card set in the Happy Meal. There is also one of four gifts, including and a booklet.

Whether this is really the case remains to be seen. McDonald’s may have made changes to the promotion as well. And hopefully precautions have also been taken so that the action does not turn out as annoying as it is in the USA.

25 years of Pokémon – this is how it is celebrated

Unlike the Zelda series, Pokémon didn’t leave us alone with the party either. There was a lot of news at Pokémon Presents last week. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch at the beginning of next year. The game is being developed by Game Freak and is intended to offer a “new approach” to the Pokémon series.

The fourth generation remake, longed for by many fans, was also announced. In Pokémon Radiant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you end up in Sinnoh once more, but this time with a completely redesigned look. The remakes should be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch later this year. On top of that, there was a new trailer for New Pokémon Snap, which will be released on April 30th.

Before that, peripheral manufacturer PowerA will release a new Enhanced Wireless Controller in Pikachu design on the occasion of its 25th birthday. There is also a matching carrying case for your switch. You can pre-order the controller and bag from Amazon now.

The licensed controller, like the bag, is adorned with a “025” in addition to Pikachu. Pikachu’s Pokédex number, a good fit for Pokémon’s 25th birthday. There are coincidences.

Distribution campaigns for Pokémon Sword and Shield

Fans can currently also get two free Pokémon for Pokémon Sword and Shield. The current distribution campaign of a Shimmering Riffex for Pokémon Sword and Shield is not part of the party around the 25th birthday. This celebrates the release of the new trading card expansion Shiny Destiny *. The singing Pikachu is on the occasion of The Pokémon Company’s P25 collaborations.

Update, March 5, 2021: The first version of the article stated that the campaign would start on March 13. March 11, 2021 is of course the correct start date. Sorry.
