Meghan Markle launches children’s book ‘The Bench’ inspired by Harry and son Archie

Meghan Markle will soon make her debut as a writer of children’s books. Her first children’s book will be published on 8 June. It got its name The Bench and tells the story of the special bond between a father and son through the eyes of a mother.

Since Meghan Markle and her husband Harry retired as senior royals, they have been busy. There was of course the infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey, but lucrative deals have also been made with both Netflix and Spotify to create content. In addition, there have also been rumors for some time that Meghan Markle would cherish political ambitions.

Relationship between fathers and sons

But first, the former actress threw her into something completely different: a children’s book. The Bench, published by Random House Children’s Books, is about “the evolving and growing relationship between fathers and sons, according to the press release. “It reminds us of the many ways in which love can be shaped and expressed in a modern family.”

The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem eventually became this story, ”Meghan said in a statement. She provided the text and will also record the audiobook. The drawings in the book are provided by Christian Robinson, who has worked for Pixar and Sesame Street in the past.

“For every family”

Christian has added beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that convey the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life. This performance was particularly important to me. Christian and I have tried to accurately portray this special bond through an inclusive lens. I hope The Bench resonates with every family, regardless of composition, ”explains Meghan.
