Just before the digital premiere on February 23 at 2 p.m. it happened: The new C-Class was leaked. Of the Twitter user “CarsInPixels” has posted photos showing the new sedan – outside and inside. Especially the one inner space is interesting. As we have already suspected, Mercedes is saying goodbye to the horizontal cockpit structure of its predecessor, instead it is similar to that of the new S-Class. The one inclined towards the driver Vertical screen on the center console At 11.9 inches, it is slightly smaller than in the flagship, but takes over the control of the navigation system, air conditioning and co. There is no longer a rotary push switch. It is also noticeable that the Gear selector lever is omitted. The speed levels are apparently also selected on the large touchscreen or on the steering wheel. The whole thing is complemented by a digital instrument display.
The new C-Class front looks more angular
Outside the new C-Class is based on the E-Class, takes over their light signature. The headlights look a bit narrower in the pictures. Otherwise, the front seems to be a bit more angular, the grill and front apron have of course also been redesigned.
The sedan arrives at the same time as the Estate called station wagon on the market is up by 6.5 inches 4.75 meters has grown and has 2.5 centimeters more wheelbase. That means more legroom for the rear passengers. And: In addition, there is probably a more robust version for the C-Class for the first time All-terrain variant with lift kit, air suspension and all-wheel drive.
Optional with rear axle steering
During the first ride in the prototype, it was noticed that the C-Class is also based on the S-Class in terms of comfort: this is how the car is now much better insulated. And one too Rear axle steering is offered as an option. But it only hits by up to 2.5 degrees, with the S-Class it is up to ten degrees. Even from the back seat it can be said that the mid-size sedan is more agile than ever before.
W 206 only with electrified engines
There is the C-Class only with four-cylinder engines, but always with electrical support. Example C 300: The top petrol engine develops 258 hp, and 27 hp is also available for a short time via overboost. The same applies to the weaker gasoline engines in the C 180 (170 hp) and in the C 200 (204 hp) as well as the diesel. They produce 200 hp in the C 220 d and 265 hp in the C 300 d (265 hp). At the beginning of 2022, Mercedes will be enough Plug-in hybrids to. The gasoline engine has 204 hp (combustion) and 122 electric hp, the diesel has 200 hp plus 122 hp, both of which are supposed to cover 100 kilometers purely electrically. A pure electric version should not be planned. And one too C 63 from AMG there will be again. There, too, the big engines seem to have had their day, the sportiest C-Class is said to be coming with a four-cylinder for the first time.
