Protecting CEO Mark Zuckerberg from possible threats is very expensive for the US group Meta.
Meta spent nearly $27 million keeping CEO Zuckerberg safe in 2021.
A recent report for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week sheds light on the level of costs that US group Meta has to bear to protect CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In 2021, Mega spent a record $26.8 million to keep the Facebook founder safe.
Increasing security costs for Zuckerberg
In recent years, the security costs for the meta boss have risen steadily. While it was around $23 million in 2019, Meta spent almost $25 million on Zuckerberg’s security in 2020. Last year, the sum was increased again by almost two million US dollars. The report does not provide any information on what exactly the security costs include. However, according to Insider’s Rob Price, Zuckerberg is under 24-hour bodyguards. The Meta Boss also has access to a bulletproof office with a panic button.
Decrease in air travel costs
In addition to the costs of Mark Zuckerberg’s personal safety, Meta also has costs of protecting Zuckerberg’s family. $1.6 million was spent last year on Zuckerberg’s private jet air travel. There is a slight decline here. In 2020 it was $1.8 million and in 2019 it was $2.9 million.
