When the sun comes out, the motorcycle season begins. For bikers is the law. Everyone else gets it as soon as the spring air is accompanied by the symphony of the one, two, three or four cylinders. But which bike should you start the 2022 season with?
AUTO BILD MOTORRAD has selected the hottest new motorcycles from the mass of news. Every passionate two-wheeler rider should know these motorcycle innovations. The list starts with Yamaha and ends with Moto Guzzi. Here are the hottest bike innovations for the 2022 season.

The legendary Suzuki Hayabusa is back

It starts with a legend: The Suzuki Hayabusa is back! In 1999, the peregrine falcon went hunting in the left lane of the motorway for the first time. 2016 was the end until 2021, when Suzuki presented the new “Busa”, officially called the GSX 1300 RR. It goes without saying that Suzuki has modernized using every trick in the book and has equipped the superbike with all conceivable electronic driving assistants. The power is given as 190 hp, the top speed as 299 km/h.
On closer inspection, the super-Japanese only impresses secondarily with her ability to smash down the freeway with brutal speed. The 264-kilo 1340 drives super-elegantly, can steam through the curves very velvety and then push forward again with incredible force. So that the basic price of 18,490 euros is definitely worth it.
Yamaha XSR900

Visually based on the 80s: Yamaha is expanding its vintage portfolio with the XSR900.

Yamaha has expanded its vintage offering with the XSR900

Retro is still the trend when it comes to motorcycles. So it’s no wonder that Yamaha has expanded its range with the new XSR900. The beautiful Japanese machine has been significantly modified in comparison to its predecessor and is now fit for Euro 5. Legendary Yamaha machines from the 70s and especially the 80s were the inspiration for the exterior.

The new frame increases the rigidity of the Yamaha

Perhaps the most important technical innovation is the aluminum frame, which significantly increases longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity, thereby ensuring greater driving stability and better dynamic talent. The three-cylinder of the XSR900 has a displacement of 899 cubic centimeters and delivers 119 hp. The XSR900 is expected to be available from dealers from May 2022. 10,899 euros must be invested.
Kawasaki Z650RS

Kawasaki has re-dressed the sporty Z650. The Z650RS comes in a modern classic look and has 68 hp.

Stylish middle class with the Kawasaki Z650RS

Aesthetes will also get a lot to see at Kawasaki 2022. The new middle-class beauty of the Greens is the Kawasaki Z650RS. It is based on the Z650 and has 68 hp. The optical model is the Z650RS of the same name from 1977. The Japanese want the Z650RS to be understood as the little sister of the Z900RS, which AUTO BILD MOTORRAD has already been able to test extensively.

A high-revving two-cylinder to rob curves

The liquid-cooled, 649 cc two-cylinder of the Japanese is a free-revving companion. If necessary, the Kawasaki partner throttles it down to A2-compliant 48 hp (35 kW). With the technology inherited from the sporty sister Kawasaki Z650, the new Kawa should not only look good, but also bring appealing dynamic talent.
Combined with a relaxed seating position, this machine could offer an exciting mixture of “stealing curves” and “cruising to the ice cream parlor in the sunshine”. The new Kawa has been with dealers since mid-December 2021. Prices start at 7995 euros.

Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT high-speed touring motorcycle

Based on the GSX-S1000, Suzuki has already introduced a touring bike with matching fairing, the GSX-S1000 F. In 2022, the sister GSX-S1000 GT will start with an extended fairing and long-distance orientation. According to the manufacturer, it should combine pleasant travel with the performance of a super sports car. The classic in-line four-cylinder delivers 152 hp and works together with an adjustable Kayaba suspension and Brembo brakes.

This Suzuki wants to score with its long-distance suitability

19 liters of tank volume should ensure a long range. Compared to the sister GSX-F, the handlebars are closer to the driver, the seat has extra thick padding, there is a large windscreen and cruise control. It is also suitable for drivers with sporty ambitions, for example thanks to the bidirectional quickshifter, i.e. for shifting up and down. The security package is comprehensive. Price from 14,450 euros.
Triumph Speed Triple 1200RR

With its retro trim, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR appears as a classic cafe racer.

A touch of nostalgia with the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR

The racing offshoot of the Triumph Speed Triple RS is called the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR. In 2022, the fast Brit will not only be starting with a wonderfully nostalgic half-shell fairing in the style of a classic café racer. It also features electronic Öhlins suspension that can be adjusted on the fly with the push of a button.

A bridge between sporty and modern-classic

In addition, the chassis monitors the driving behavior of the person in the saddle via an intelligent measuring unit and automatically adapts to the circumstances. The 1160 cc three-cylinder in the Speed Triple 1200 RR has an output of 180 hp. All in all, the bike bridges the gap between the uncompromisingly sporty Triumph roadsters and the modern classics. The Speed Triple 1200 RR has been available from Triumph dealers since January 2022 and starts at 20,400 euros.
Husqvarna North 901

The Swedish travel enduro Husqvarna Norden 901 should feel at home on gravel roads.

Husqvarna Norden 901 as a travel companion from Sweden

Fans of the Swedish motorcycle brand Husqvarna have been waiting for the Nordic 901 travel enduro for a long time. It is technically based on the well-known sister company KTM 890 Adventure, but impresses with its look in the current, Nordic cool Husqvarna style. The technical data of the 889 cc two-cylinder does not differ from the Austrian counterpart: like the KTM, for example, it has exactly 105 hp. When it comes to the chassis, the Norden 901 also uses proven technology from the group shelf.

The Husqvarna is well suited for long journeys

Adventurous pilots should be happy about the size of the tank. A range of around 400 kilometers should result from a volume of 19 liters. An unladen weight of 204 kilos is great for use on gravel roads, but requires an experienced person behind the handlebars off-road. The price is 16,349 euros.
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello

Moto Guzzi celebrates its 100th birthday with the 115 hp V100 Mandello with active aerodynamics.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello for the company anniversary

The Italian touring bike specialist Moto Guzzi is celebrating the company’s 100th birthday in 2021 and is fittingly launching the brand new Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello. The handsome Italian is powered by a liquid-cooled V2. It has a displacement of 1042 cubic centimeters and produces 115 hp. The cardan shaft runs to the left of the swingarm to the rear wheel. The power is transmitted through them.

The new Moto Guzzi is a thoroughly modern bike

Technically, the ‘Guzzi’ is up to date. Among other things, it comes with cornering ABS, four driving modes and a quick shifter. Moto Guzzi praises its adaptive aerodynamics as a major highlight of the V100 Mandello. Behind it are deflectors attached to the side of the tank, which automatically adapt to the speed and driving mode and are said to reduce the air pressure on the driver by 22 percent. The manufacturer has not yet commented on the price, but the basic version can be expected to cost 13,000 euros.
