Musk: Twitter could become chargeable – for these user groups






Elon Musk is considering charging for Twitter use. But not by all users.

Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter isn’t even complete yet, but the busy Musk is already thinking aloud about how he could make money with Twitter. Because the upcoming Twitter owner

tweeted
that Twitter should “always be free for casual users” but “may cost a little for commercial/government users”. By casual users, Musk obviously means home users.

Musk did not reveal any further details. Musk may want to wait and analyze the reactions to his tweet first.

Musk is paying $44 billion for Twitter, his favorite social media platform. As soon as the takeover is complete, the Tesla and Space X boss wants to delist Twitter. Speaking of Tesla, Musk sold some of his Tesla shares to fund the Twitter acquisition; namely shares worth $4.4 billion. The Tesla share price then fell. Musk has previously announced that he cares deeply about the right to free speech on Twitter. It remains to be seen what effect this could have in concrete terms and whether this will become carte blanche for hate speech and tirades on Twitter. It is also still unclear whether ex-US President Donald Trump can return to Twitter. Trump had used Twitter extensively and regularly spread untrue claims about it.
