Oscar winners Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o will soon be seen together for the first time on the small screen. The two actresses play the leading roles in the film adaptation of the book Lady in the Lake from Laura Lippman. The miniseries will be released on Apple TV +.
Film adaptations of books have been around for years. But it very rarely happens that two Oscar winners play the two lead roles in that film adaptation. And that’s exactly what’s going to happen with the book Lady in the Lake from Laura Lippman.
Lady in the Lake
Apple TV + will turn that book into a mini-series. None other than Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o will play the leading roles. That writes entertainment website Deadline. Alma Har’el (Honey Boy) directs the series and also helps write it.
Natalie Portman (Black Swan) plays the role of Maddie Schwartz. She’s a housewife in 1960s Baltimore. But one day she gets tired of that life and decides to become an investigative reporter. Maddie goes to work on an unsolved murder.
Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) then crawls back into the skin of Cleo Sherwood. She is a hardworking woman who tries to combine the different aspects of her life as well as possible. She has to take care of her children, work different jobs and she is committed to equal rights for blacks in Baltimore.
Apple TV +
It is not the first time that Apple TV + has managed to attract big stars for a new series. For example, none other than Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon play the leading roles The Morning Show. That’s the very first Apple TV + Original released into the world.
