Netflix has released a first teaser for the series “Resident Evil”, which will be released on July 14, 2022. The first season will consist of eight parts and is based on the video game series of the same name.
From Netflix creator Andrew Dabb, the series tells the story of how Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska) becomes one of the last humans left to survive in the apocalypse after a viral catastrophe created by Umbrella devastates the world. As the daughter of Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick), Jade has some direct connection to the events in New Raccoon City that ultimately led to the planet being invaded by zombies in 2026. But instead of finding out how Umbrella’s research led to another outbreak of the T-Virus, Jade is much more focused on her long-missing sister, who she hopes is still out there somewhere.
Netflix’s Resident Evil also stars Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery.
It remains to be seen whether Netflix has hit the nail on the head and told us an exciting story that doesn’t just rest on the laurels. The teaser at least makes you want more.
