Dutch cinemas are currently closed; that is why many titles are released prematurely or directly on demand. This will also happen next week with J’accuse, the controversial new film by director Roman Polanski.
The Other Lamb is set in a self-sufficient community in the forest where people do not use modern technology. Shepherd (Huisman) is the leader and mentor of the group made up entirely of women. Teenage Selah, however, begins to experience bloody visions as she matures, prompting her to question the usefulness and necessity of the community.
The film will first be shown for two weeks on Picl, the online platform of the Dutch film theaters. From May 13, The Other Lamb can also be seen through other on-demand channels, such as Pathé Thuis.
The horror film was released in the US in early April. Huisman has lived and worked in the US for years. He recently appeared in the Neflix hit The Haunting of Hill House and the romantic drama film The Guernsey Literary Society.
