It’s been a really strange year for Nintendo. Today’s announcement from Hyrule Warriors: Time of Desolation for Nintendo Switch. Once more out of the blue. It’s a game that already has its place in the much-cited Zelda timeline. It takes place 100 years before Breath of the Wild.
In a video, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma introduces you to the new game, which is expressly (and for many probably “fortunately”) not Breath of the Wild 2, for which the development team still needs time. With Hyrule Warriors: Time of Devastation, Breath of the Wild players will feel right at home visually. But a lot changes playfully.
Hyrule Warriors is known to be a Musou game and “Time of Desolation” is exactly that. The Musou gameplay (in the West often referred to as “1 against 1000”) goes perfectly with the battles of Desolation. The title is consequently developed by Koei Tecmo. As is typical for the genre, several characters can be played. You can control Zelda, Link and the four warriors. In the second part of the video, producer Yosuke Hayashi comes along and introduces you to further details.
With November 20, 2020, Hyrule Warriors: Time of Devastation has already been given a specific date. The official website is also already online!
