No April Fool’s joke: Ferrari 488 GTB crashed after three kilometers
That was a short pleasure! In the UK, a 670 hp strong and around 200,000 euros expensive Ferrari 488 GTB crashed – the driver had it supercar bought the same day!
It happened accident on April 1st (and no, this is not an April Fool’s joke) in Derbyshire, near Nottingham, UK. Local police have attached two photos of a damaged Ferrari 488 GTB Twitter posted and wrote that the driver bought the supercar on the morning of the day of the accident and crashed after only two miles (3.2 kilometers). (maintenance costs calculate? To the car insurance comparison!)
There is no information about the course of the accident, but it seems as if the Ferrari was under another car or one truck slipped. The 488 GTB is the successor to the 458 Italia and has a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8. the mid-engine gives his performance (670 hp and 760 Nm maximum torque) only to the rear wheels. Obviously too much power for the new Ferrari driver.
The result of the crash: Both headlights, the front apron and the bonnet were damaged. The good news: no one was hurt and the damage is definitely repairable. The bad news: The repair is unlikely to be cheap, and the Ferrari is then an accident car.
Ferrari 488 GTB cost between 180,000 and 280,000 euros
In Germany, used Ferrari 488 GTBs cost between 180,000 and 280,000 euros, depending on mileage and equipment. With repaired accident damage, however, the value of this example should have fallen. The driver has certainly learned his lesson and in future will approach the performance cautiously – then the joy in the new car will last longer!
