The iPhone SE would not get a successor this year. According to the latest rumors, Apple would not get a new version of its cheaper iPhone on the brand until 2022. It will immediately receive a serious upgrade in many areas compared to its predecessor.
At the beginning of this year, surprising rumors surfaced that Apple would already come with a new iPhone SE in April 2021. That was striking because there were no less than four years between the first two versions of the iPhone SE.
So now it appears that these rumors are indeed incorrect. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we won’t get the third-generation iPhone SE until the first half of 2022.
5G and better processor
The biggest change compared to the most recent version of the iPhone SE (2020) would be the support of 5G. In addition, the new model would also get a better processor. That processor will probably be the A14 Bionic chip that Apple uses in the iPhone 12 series. It is also possible that they immediately opt for the processor from the iPhone 13 series that will be on the market this fall.
Other things – such as the design – would remain identical to the version from 2020. The iPhone SE (2022) will therefore also have a 4.7 inch display.
