The new Geforce cards of the RTX 4000 series should be released in autumn 2022. According to rumors, the new cards could theoretically surpass the old cards of the 3000 series by up to twice the computing power – with the same energy requirement.
Increased performance by more than 50 percent?
The alleged specifications were spotted on Twitter. If this data is true, the Nvidia cards will receive a significant leap in performance.

The information comes from the hardware leaker “kopite7kimi”. According to the leak, the Ada graphics cards achieve a clock rate of 2750 MHz with the top model RTX 4090. For comparison: the RTX 3090 achieves between 1800 and 1900 MHz in practice (1695 MHz on paper).
The Geforce RTX 4090 is said to offer 16,384 shaders at 2235 / 2520 MHz, plus a 384-bit interface with 21 GBit/s GDDR6X video memory. The Geforce RTX 3090 Ti has 10,752 ALUs (ALUs, arithmetic-logical units) at 1,560 / 1,860 MHz, which “only” corresponds to 40 teraflops instead of 82 teraflops. The theoretical computing power cannot be converted to practical gaming performance, also because different architectures are compared. However, the double value of FP32 flops is a strong indication that the Geforce RTX 4090 should deliver a significant plus in gaming performance compared to the Geforce RTX 3090 Ti.
