Ikea unveiled its own vinyl record player as part of Milan Design Week 2022. The hardware was developed in cooperation with the musicians from Swedish House Mafia. The turntable will be available from Ikea as part of the new Obegränsad collection as early as autumn.
Preamp and interchangeable pickup
With the Obegränsad collection, Ikea is aimed at creative people who are dedicated to producing music in their own four walls. The turntable offers a sleek, minimalist design and works with the Eneby speaker via a wired connection. The unit is USB powered and has a built in preamp. The needle and the pickup are interchangeable. The Ikea record player should be available from furniture retailers from autumn. Price details are not yet known.
Armchair and desk are also part of the collection
In addition to the record player, the collection also includes a desk and an armchair, which should be recommended for DJs, producers or musicians, among other things.
“Sound is everything in music and we’ve added two speaker stands to the lectern to bring the speakers to ear level. We’ve also added a pull-out shelf under the table top. This allows you to keep a midi keyboard within reach, for example while maximizing your desk space”
, explains Ikea designer Friso Wiersma. The turntable, the armchair and the desk are the first products in the new Obegränsad collection, which is said to have around 20 items in total.
