The summer vacation is just around the corner, the autumn vacation also needs to be prepared. If you don’t want to travel too far by plane, you should start planning your alternative vacation in Germany or neighboring countries as soon as possible. For this purpose, we have put together a number of apps with which you can plan the optimal travel route taking into account camping sites or parking spaces for the motorhome.
Camping.Info: A lodging for the night
With the motto “Off into nature”, not only hiking and cycling are on the agenda, but also camping with a caravan or your own tent. This not only makes you independent of hotel bookings, but also offers a little more flexibility, as you can often get hold of parking spaces for your mobile home or your own tent at very short notice. In spite of everything, it is helpful at this point if you do not have to laboriously search for campsites manually using a browser on the Internet, but instead have an app available to help you plan your route. The free Camping.Info app for Android and iOS is a good introduction. The app is based on information from the two websites Camping.info and Stellplatz.info and has over 23,000 campsites and 6,600 pitches across Europe in its directory. There are also over 100,000 reviews from more than 50,000 campers on the various accommodation options.
If you search for a campsite or pitch in the Camping.info app via the location, the results are displayed in a list with distance, rating and contact information.
Within the app, you have the option of looking for the right camping or parking space using a location search. There are also numerous filter options, for example on the equipment of the campsite, its location or the ratings. This will enable you to quickly and precisely find a place that meets your requirements and wishes. The app also has an integrated navigation solution that takes you directly to the campsite you want. This makes sense if you don’t have an alternative solution. In the route options you can, for example, store diesel driving bans, which is an important criterion for older campers in particular.
The Camping.Info app offers a variety of filter options for the location, rating and equipment of the pitches. This also enables you to find a campsite with WiFi, a power connection for the camper or a tennis court as quickly as possible.
In addition to the free versions of the app, there are also two paid versions that you subscribe to either monthly or annually. For around 5 euros per year, for example, you get complete offline functionality, up-to-the-minute fuel prices and optimization for campers. For just under 10 euros per year there are, among other things, optimized routes for your motorhome, a speed camera detector and integration into Android Auto.
Alternative apps for finding a place
If you are only looking for an app to search for campsites in your area, at a specific location or along a specific route, there are two other interesting alternatives for Germany. The first is park4night for Android and iOS. There are almost 180,000 places from almost 150 countries in this app. The main countries are France with 50,000 places, Germany with 20,000 places, Italy with a good 15,000 places, Spain with a good 19,000 places and Great Britain with 9,000 entries.
The park4night app offers you a selection of over 180,000 campsites and tent sites scattered around the world, with the focus on Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
In the free version of the app, you can search for a campsite near you or in the vicinity of a certain location; in the paid, advertising-free app, you can also search along a route as well as offline functionality. It costs just under two euros a month or 10 euros a year.
The app Stellplatz Radar deals with the topic of advertising much more discreetly, because this only catches the eye when describing the parking spaces and campsites. The app has over 20,000 parking spaces all over Europe, according to the provider around 14,000 parking spaces and 7000 campsites. The focus is on Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden. These courses have received a total of 100,000 reviews from users. In the commercial version for just under 2 euros per month or 9 euros per year, there is not only the offline mode but also filter options and no advertisements.
The Stellplatz Radar app has over 100,000 user ratings for around 20,000 parking spaces. In the commercial version, you can also use the extensive filter criteria when searching.
