Opel Combo: used car test – How To Cars

When true utility is required, the Opel Combo comes into its own. It is no coincidence that the fifth generation of the practical box seems French to us. The high-roof Hesse was developed together with PSA (now Stellantis) and is based on the EMP2 platform. It was introduced in mid-2018.

* Further information on the official fuel consumption and the official specific CO2 emissions and, if applicable, the power consumption of new cars can be found in the “Guideline on Official Fuel Consumption”, which is available free of charge at all sales outlets and from “Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH” (www .dat.de).

Versatility and economy are the big plus points of the combo. The 130 hp turbo diesel we tested was the most powerful combustion engine variant until September 2021. As a 1500 common-rail diesel, it meets the Euro 6d-Temp (later Euro 6d-ISC-FCM) emissions standard and fits in perfectly with the concept of a utility-oriented family car. Our ocean blue test vehicle comes from Autohaus Sukusu in Neumünster (Schleswig-Holstein) and was first registered in October 2019.

Opel Combo used: after three years just under 25,000 euros

According to the Schwacke database, the original price of the seven-seater including navigation infotainment, automatic climate control, seat and steering wheel heating and trailer hitch was 31,120 euros. Now, with 73,073 kilometers on the digital odometer and a one-year used car guarantee, you would still have to pay 24,990 euros. This enormous value retention can be explained by the good condition, long delivery times for new cars and the currently tense situation on the used car market.

The 1.84 meter high 1.5 ton truck still looks fit and rattle-free. With 300 Nm of torque, this one works combounlike its weaker siblings with a 1.2 petrol engine (110 to 130 hp) or 102 hp diesel, despite a record-breaking 855 kg payload, does not immediately deflate.

So far, the chassis and brakes have coped well with the useful design of our test car, only the hard plastic parts in the interior have minor scratches. The noise insulation is good.

As an XL variant, the combo is 35 centimeters longer

Around two dozen storage compartments offer inexhaustible storage options. A variant that is 35 centimeters longer carries the suffix XL. Warning: there is now one combo now only as a 136 hp full-powered model with a 50 kWh battery (used from 33,990 euros). For a number of families and lantern parkers, however, a possible trailer load of 1500 kilograms and a range of a good 800 kilometers without possible charging station problems should still be very good reasons for buying the diesel version used.
