Zafira Life now also electric

As an Opel Zafira e-Life, the minibus is now also available with an electric drive. There are two battery sizes to choose from, the technology comes from PSA. AUTO BILD has all the information!

Opel continues to electrify its fleet, the latest representative is the Zafira e-Life. The minibus is fully electric and shares the technology with the Citroën e-Spacetourer and Peugeot e-Traveler siblings. The Zafira e-Life also produces 136 hp and 260 Nm, it is also available with two different batteries. At the market launch in summer 2020, it is equipped with a 50 kWh battery that should allow a range of 230 kilometers according to WLTP.

At the beginning of 2021, a 75 kWh battery will follow, which is to cover 330 kilometers with one charge. According to Opel, the smaller battery can be charged to 80 percent on a quick charging station within half an hour, the larger version in 45 minutes. Opel gives an eight-year warranty on the battery.

Also as an electric car in three lengths

Like the combustion Zafira, the electric version is also available in three different lengths (between 4.60 meters and 5.30 meters), with space for up to nine people and up to 4500 liters of luggage space. The Zafira e-Life can also pull up to a ton. Because the car should not only be useful, but also comfortable, there is the top equipment “Lounge” for the two larger versions with a long wheelbase. Then the electric van becomes a shuttle – with heated front seats including massage function and four leather armchairs with a 48 centimeter wide seat in the rear.

Access from outside via smartphone

Zafira Life now also electrically

The speedometer unit shows the status of the electric drive instead of the tachometer.

The assistance systems such as distance radar, high beam and fatigue assistant are already known from the conventional Zafira. Special functions for the smartphone are new: For example, the “Free2Move Services App” from PSA gives you the option of being led to 160,000 charging points across Europe and paying directly. The car itself can be checked and controlled from the outside with new “Opel Connect” functions. From a distance, the driver can check how full the battery is, switch on the air conditioning system before boarding or program charging times.
