In order to channel the flood of e-mails, Outlook gives you the option of automatically redirecting messages from unknown people to a special folder. We’ll show you how to do this.
Move emails from unknown contacts to folders
At the top click on “File -› Manage rules and notifications – ›New rule”. Now, in the “Create rule without template” section, select “Apply rule to messages I have received” and then click “Next”. Leave the following window unchanged and confirm with “Next”. Outlook now asks whether the new rule should actually be applied to every incoming message. Confirm this with “Yes”.
In the next window, please tick “Move this to the target folder”. The action now appears in the lower field of the window. Click on the underlined term “Target folder” and select a folder or create one with “New”. All e-mails from unknown senders end up in this folder. So give it a name like “Unknown”. Close the window or windows with “OK” and click “Next”.
You can use an Outlook rule to automatically move electronic messages from unknown senders to a special folder.
In the window that will open, check “Unless the sender is address book name in the address book”. Then click in the lower field on “Address book name”, mark “Outlook address book”, click on “Add -› Next ”. Then give the rule a meaningful name such as “Unknown senders” and confirm with “Finish -› OK “. The rule is now permanently saved in Outlook. You can deactivate and reactivate this at any time via “File -> Manage rules and notifications” by deleting and setting the preceding tick.
