Outlook offers a special view in which it combines the mails into conversations. That’s how it’s done.
Outlook: sort mails by conversation
In the default setting, Outlook arranges mails chronologically according to the point in time when they were included. When exchanging messages for a long time, the overview is somewhat lost, especially if the other participant has deleted the text of the original mail or if a mobile mail client always cuts off the text.
For such cases, Outlook offers a special view in which it combines the mails into conversations. To do this, put a tick in front of “Show as conversations” in the “View” menu. The program then asks you whether the setting should only apply to the currently open folder or to all mailboxes. For a first test click on “This folder”.
Outlook sorts mails according to conversations if desired. You can set the program to automatically display all the messages in a conversation.
Now mainly emails that represent the last link in a message chain appear, small arrows. After clicking on it, you will see the entire conversation under the heading of the subject line. Your own mails indicate in which folder they are located. You can also set Outlook to automatically display the posts of a conversation after selecting an e-mail: To do this, open the “Conversation Settings” pull-down menu under “View” and tick “Always expand the selected conversation “.
